The short version: list only domains you own, keep deals and payment on url.community, treat other members fairly, and transfer what you sell. Buyers’ money is held in escrow until the domain arrives. The full terms are below.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of url.community ("url.community", "we", "us"), an online marketplace for buying and selling domain names. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use url.community.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to create an account. If you use url.community on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorized to bind that business to these Terms.
2. Your account
Provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, so keep your password private and tell us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized use. One person or business per account; accounts may not be sold or transferred.
3. What url.community does
url.community provides a venue where members list, discover, negotiate and pay for domain names, and an escrow process that holds a buyer's payment until the domain transfer is confirmed. Sales are between the buyer and the seller. We are not the owner of listed domains, we do not appraise them, and we do not guarantee that any domain will sell or that a listing price reflects market value.
Suggested prices, brand ideas, logos and landing-page previews shown on listings are generated automatically, often with AI, to help people picture a name's potential. They are illustrations only: they are not appraisals, not business advice, and not checked for trademark or other legal clearance.
4. Listing and selling a domain
When you list a domain, you confirm that:
- you own the domain or are authorized by its owner to sell it, and it is not subject to any dispute, lien or restriction that would prevent its transfer;
- the domain and your listing do not infringe anyone's trademark or other rights;
- the information in your listing is accurate, and you will keep it accurate.
Every listing must pass ownership verification before it appears on the marketplace. You set your own asking price and may change it until the domain sells. When a buyer pays, you agree to transfer the domain to them promptly using the registrar's process and our transfer guide. If you cannot complete the transfer, the buyer is refunded and the sale is cancelled. We may remove or hide any listing that breaks these Terms.
5. Offers and messaging
Buyers may make offers below a domain's asking price. Offers are private: a buyer sees only their own offer, and only the seller sees every offer on their domain. Sellers may accept, decline or counter any offer, and buyers may withdraw an offer that has not been accepted. When a seller accepts an offer, every other open offer on that domain is closed.
An accepted offer is an agreement to sell the domain to that buyer at that price, completed when the buyer pays through url.community.
Each offer comes with a private conversation between the buyer and the seller. Use it to discuss the domain and arrange the transfer. Do not use it to send spam, harass anyone, share malicious links, or arrange payment outside url.community.
6. Fees, payment and escrow
Creating an account and listing a domain are free. When a domain sells, the seller pays a commission of 10% of the final sale price, and the buyer pays the sale price plus a flat transaction fee of $12 per domain. Fees shown at checkout apply to that purchase. We may change our fees for future transactions by updating them on the site.
Payments are processed by Stripe; card details never reach our servers. The buyer's payment is held in escrow while the seller transfers the domain and is released to the seller's connected Stripe account, less the commission, once the buyer confirms they have received the domain. Sellers must connect a Stripe account to be paid, and Stripe's own terms apply to it. Taxes and any registrar or transfer charges are the responsibility of the party they apply to.
If a transfer cannot be completed, the buyer is refunded in full, including the transaction fee. Once a transfer is completed and confirmed, the sale is final except where the law requires otherwise.
8. Things you may not do
When using url.community you may not:
- list domains you do not own or are not authorized to sell, or misrepresent a domain, its history or its traffic;
- make offers or purchases you do not intend to complete, or bid on your own listings;
- harass, threaten, deceive or defraud other members;
- use the site for anything unlawful, including phishing, malware or trademark infringement;
- scrape, overload, probe or interfere with the site, or try to access accounts or data that are not yours.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post — listing details, uploaded logos, messages and blog submissions. You give url.community a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and reproduce that content as needed to run and promote the marketplace (for example, showing your listing and its brand ideas to buyers). You confirm you have the right to post it.
10. Disclaimers
url.community is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any member, listing or domain is what it claims to be beyond the ownership verification described above.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, url.community will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or any transaction on it. Our total liability for any claim relating to url.community is limited to the fees you paid us in connection with the transaction giving rise to the claim, or, if none, one hundred US dollars.
12. Indemnity
You agree to defend and indemnify url.community against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your listings, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of anyone's rights.
13. Suspension and closing accounts
We may suspend or close an account, or remove a listing, that breaks these Terms or puts other members at risk. You may close your account at any time by contacting us; transactions already in progress must be completed or refunded first.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If a change is material, we will tell members by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use url.community after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
